Just returned from the wonderfulness of California, where I started my journey with a few days of silent retreat at Lake Shrine - nestled in the Pacific Palisades - time out for introspection, reflection, contemplation - always grateful for these special moments. Even if you can only spare an afternoon or morning I highly recommend a visit to these sacred grounds a little oasis in LA and one of the most blissful places you could ever visit! Then staight bang into a week long intense programme with the LA Synch Mission held at the iconic Capital Records Tower, Hollywood, where legends such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Barbara Streisand have recorded.!! The LA Synch Mission is organised by the BPI and the DTI and involves listening to panels of music supervisors, networking, meeting fellow music industry people; everyone just so super cool and friendly! Reception at the British Consulate for opportunity to network some more and site visits to explore further, made it a truly worthwhile experience with opportunities to follow up on! A final few days to spend hanging out with friends I hadn't seen in a while creating special moments and catching up and now back in London dealing with the jetlag and following up on those new opportunities and new friends to collaborate with!!
Is it a page for each year ... is each year just a page ... in our book of life .. for us to write what we wish ... tell our own story ... make the story come to life ?
I listened to the Oprah Winfrey / Pharrell Williams interview .. really interesting and inspiring ... he spoke about writing 'Happy' for the film Despicable Me 2 and how he wrote 8 different songs before the final song 'Happy' was accepted by the decision makers and finally loved!! And that when the film came out the song 'Happy' couldn't even get a play on the radio and it was only only when they made the video that it went viral around the world ... it's interesting that such a great and uplifting song could only be truly appreciated with a video / visual to highlight the greatness of the song .. I remember working with a producer who whenever he played me a song or the piano, always made me close my eyes to fully appreciate and become immersed in that song / music!! Have we lost the pleasure, the art of purely just truly listening and feeling the music and envisioning the images it creates in our own minds?

Feeling blessed when inspiration flows whilst sleeping ... woke this morning and wrote this poem ...
I could give you all the Glory
Make it One Big Wondrous Story
Without the Sorrow and the Pain
But you'd never be the same
You'd never grow so never know
The Greatness you could be
That within each and everyone of you
There is a Spark of Me

"All Life is Sacred and All Creation related. What we do effects the Whole Universe. So let us Walk in Balance with Mother Earth and All her People" Smiling Bear .... along with ... "Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money" Cree Indian Proverb .. in deepest thought ... a good time to write. If you get a chance do go to my soundcloud page, nyilah10 where you can hear a few of my latest songs ... Ride of Our Lives ... not yet on itunes .. but on its way.

I love gazing at the stars in the Sky and the full moon which looks so mystical so you can imagine my excitement that for the next two weeks we will be able to see Five beautiful awesomely powerful planets in the Sky: Mercury, Venus (my ruling planet and planet of love and beauty :-) ), Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. The best time to see them says www.space.com is 45 mins before sunrise and looking south-easterly! I shall be rising and shining from 6.45am tomorrow morning hoping to glimpse this glorious alignment. I shall try and get a photo too with my humble Canon camera - it has taken some great shots of a full moon so will give it a go.
Hoping I'll be blessed with some inspiration flowing forth from the Universe as I sit at my piano writing :-)
Stay blessed, xx

Warren Buffet says that the most important investment you can make is in yourself.
"The only true measure of success is happiness" Anonymous ... so there you are ... follow your bliss :-) Mine is the love of writing music, songs, lyrics and collaborating with talented souls throughout this big wonderful Universe. Writng a song for a male artist at the minute and loving the challenge of where this may take me :-)

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson
I just love this quote and reminds me of the enormous potential within each one of us and of our connection with the Infinite :-)
If you didn't download my song 'The Dream that Never Dies' over the Christmas period, it is still available to download for free from my music page - I'd love to hear what you think.
Planning a trip to my second home - California this year .. just love it, always find inspiration to write new songs there an have great memories of sitting on the beach headphones on overflowing with lyrical ideas an melodies :-) Its just a wonderful place plus my dearest friends live there and I need to see them hang out and just have some fun :-) It's been a long winter in London for everyone here so need to breakout and fly away

"Even when I was in the orphanage, when I was roaming the street trying to find enough to eat, even then I thought of myself as the greatest actor in the world. I had to feel the exuberance that comes from utter confidence in yourself. Without it, you go down to defeat." Charlie Chaplin - Ooh wise words from an incredible actor, all about the feeling. So today I was driving in my car, turned on the radio and caught the ending of this most beautiful song that gave me goosebumps, it was filled with such emotion. It turned out to be an old song by a singer/songwriter called Don McLean and the song was called 'Vincent - Starry Starry Night'. So when I got home I looked this up on youtube because the words were so sad and beautiful at the same time and the melody ooh ... he wrote it about Vincent Van Gogh and by looking at his paintings. It proves that great songs are timeless classics. Interestingly, in my search about this writer and his song, Vincent, I learned that Tupac had apparently studied Don McLean's songwriting and I can totally see why, his lyrical writing tells a story so vividly and fills you with emotions :-)
I'm still in the process of writing some new songs and whilst taking longer than I would have hoped, I'm learning to Let Go and Let God, there are some things that are just out of our control and so the trick I guess is to go with the flow and not try to struggle :-) I'm a spirit having a human experience and loving the process of songwriting and singing and music and not forgetting love :-) Something you may not know about me is I'm also a reiki healer, it's a form of spiritual healing and works on the mind, body and soul, it's very relaxing experience and you can also use it for distant healing which I sometimes have as well, so if ever you feel in need of some healing just message me via my contact page here on my website or via facebook or twitter and I shall add your name to my list and send you some healing reiki energy :-) Sending you boundless blessings :-) x

"I've just read the last page of the Bible. It's all going to turn out all right". Billy Graham :-) ..this made me smile. As a writer it's always good to read thought-provoking .. inspirational .. mind-expanding words although I do believe alot of writing comes from the ether somehow someway :-) Soo Olympic mania has hit London and it's been interesting to read how these AmaZing athletes stay so focused every moment of their life, using visualisation as a tool so even when they're not physically training, in their minds they are going over and over passing the finishing line, winning that race, reaching their goal and some it seems even have psychotherapists to keep their minds strong!! Its like any of us with goals, dreams and ambitions, so long as step by step day by day you are doing something positive to get you towards your goals and creating and making use of all the opportunities that come your way. Ooh did you see that I have a FREE DOWNLOAD on the website now ... 'Secret of Life' - I hope you enjoy this song as much as I did when writing it with Femi Ojetunde .. its such an uplifting feel good empowering kinda song. Do tweet me or email me what you think when you hear it ... lyrically it was one of those times when I truly feel blessed to have been in tune with the Infinite when writing the words " ..I gotta vision that we can rise above we can be more more than those who've walked before ... "
It's always good to take some time out and I did that recently and went off to the beautiful Greek Island, Skiathos, aah yes I love the Greek Islands they are so magical and chilled .. the people so friendly .... this little Island is where they filmed Mama Mia so a musical connection .. of sorts .. went sailing on an amazing Yacht and just loved it ... never realised how peaceful and blissful this would be .. and definitely want to do this again!! ...
Writing can be a solitary action but these past few weeks I've been collaborating with on a track with some other writers .. just coming in to finish off a few lines ... it's great to hear someone else playing my piano I love it .. an I've just been focusing on the lyrics and melody - but interesting cos I originally wrote the lines in the first person which they loved but then wanted to change it to the third person - phrases and timings of words really make the melody sit tight so was a challenge to play around with this .. as simple as it may seem :-) .. I shall be posting some new songs shortly so look out and in the meantime enjoy the Free Download ... long may summer last, stay blessed, blissed and safe :-)
Sunday 8 January 2012
Wow ... a new year ... a new start ... just want to wish all a bliss-filled, music-filled, healthy and happy 2012 ... healthy being truly the most important. Then I want to apologise if you email me and I don't get backatcha straight away ... its not because I don't love you ... just that it sometimes takes me a little while to go through my emails ... but I endeavour and do reply to all emails :-) Christmas was a truly spiritual time and a great time to catch up with family and friends who I don't often get to see .. especially musical friends who are hard to catch up with ala my dear friend, Noah Francis who will this year be putting out his debut album which I had the privilege of getting a private listening to the album ... before its release ... definitely one to watch this year ... his talents are Awesome.
I co-wrote a track entitled 'I Pray' with US based Christian rapper Dolo Pacino last year and I believe that is going to be out on a compliation album this year ...first of a fair few songs I've written and am looking forward to recording them this year ... one of my greatest new musical gadgets is my Samsung Galaxy SII which actually has a great little recorder device on it and captures me playing piano and singing real good ... its really hard to record piano but I'm impressed with this little phone ... :-)
So plans and intentions for 2012 ... record new songs ... and remix "On The Other Side of the Sky" - I really want to do this .. I was so blessed to have top U.S. bass player Eric Smith perform on this song when he was over in London with Rahsaan Patterson one time ...he came into the studio with literally 2 hours to spare before he had to get to Heathrow for a flight back to the U.S. ... what a great and talented guy and I'm so thankful :-)
Keeping my voice in tip top shape with my talented vocal coach Ann De Renais ... no matter how much experience you have as a vocalist .. you always need to see a vocal coach .. like getting your car serviced and fine tuned LOL .. makes such a difference ... which reminds me I have to get my lovely old piano tuned ...video video ... yes still working on this project .. but I know it will manifest this year and you will see more on youtube ...of course which means getting to the gym and swimming which is a great workout for your lungs if you're a vocalist ... I just wish they weren't soo full of chlorine .. Ugghhh ... And definitely going to get back to my second home in the universe .. California ... ooh I have missed being there so much ... I love London but inspiration does seem to flow more easily when I'm there ... in the meantime ... Dream Big Dreams ... Keep the Faith .. Stay Blessed .. Nyilahx
Tuesday 19 July 2011
Sometimes when we experience loss its hard to open up and share our feelings, instead we want and need to introspect and reflect, though its not the greatest of places to be for a songwriter, but this is where I have been .. ooh and sat at my old piano writing some new songs ... I think sometimes the best songs come from the lowest points in life ... 'Best Day of My Life' was surely written when I was going through a 'low' period! Life is full of ups and downs; joy and sorrow though prayfully we all experience far more joy in all its glory than we do sorrow :-) ... thankfully God blessed us with friends to help us through the dark times. My friend Juliet says that if you jump off a cliff God will either give you wings to fly or a soft landing to fall on! Not to be taken literally you understand :-) ... Anyway can't wait to record some new songs and get them up on the website to share with you. In the meantime, I've added some songs from my album up on to the bbc.co.uk/introducing website in the hope that some lovely soul at the BBC will hear my songs and fall in love with them and get them played on the Gary Crowley show and other radio shows. Also been working on some great video ideas … a slow process though not in my head .. step by step it will all come together and in the blink of an eye up on youtube .. will keep you informed :-)
I keep this little book by my bed 'Opening Doors Within' and read this little excerpt which I wanted to share "Expect only the very best, and expect every need to be met, even the most seemingly impossible. Never at any time limit yourself .... see your needs very clearly, voice them and then have complete faith and confidence that they will be met. Expect miracles, and see them take place. Hold ever before you the thought of prosperity and abundance, and know that doing so sets into operation forces that will bring it into being..."
Sunday 25 April 2010
Just returned from a couple days in Nottingham ... home of the legend of Robin Hood :-) Reason for the visit was an interview on Kemet Radio with the deeliteful and charming DJ Naughty Raver and DJ Nico D on Thursday 22 April at 9pm ... was in the studio till 10.30 as we chatted, interspersed with not only the house remixes of my track 'Under My Skin' by himself, DJ Naughty Raver but also tracks off my album 'Best Day of My Life' and the Witty Boy remix of 'Under My Skin' - was a fun time and I am eternally grateful and thankful for their support of my music. Of course I couldn't leave Nottingham without going to Sherwood Forest, the hideout of Robin Hood ... and to see the oldest Oak Tree (1150 years old) in the country ... so accompanied by my dear mum off we ventured into the Forest looking for the ghosts of Robin Hood and his Merrimen ... :-)
Just received a couple copies of the Mastermix Pro Dance 27 compliation album for DJ use, which includes the Witty Boy Remix of 'Under My Skin' as well as a Cheryl Cole track, Chris Brown and Ultra Nate ... kinda cool :-)
Focus focus focus ... on rare occasions when the sun shines and its hot in London its sometimes hard to knuckle down and get on with what needs to be done as really you just wanna be outside chillin' and basking in the gloriousness of the day ... so I did for a few hours yesterday but now am looking at what needs to be done ... live gigs and video ... writing ... trying to figure out how to download ideas from my tascam to my computer ... somewhere inside my head I know I know it as it is said we already know everything ... we just need to improve our knowing ... hemmm ... on that thought I am going to tune in with the infinite and meditate ... in love n lightxxx
Friday 12 March 2010
Wow what a thrilling time it’s been, I am so ever thankful that the remixes of ‘Under My Skin’ are really making an impact
I had a live phone interview with DJ Natch at ICR FM Radio, 105.7 Ipswich last Saturday 6th March which was fun and Natch played both remixes, the Naughty Raver and the Witty Boy remix. Yeah
Oh an a big shout out to DJ Shawn ‘Banger’ Scott who has me on his Podcast of top tunes .. how fabulous.
Some exciting news about a compilation album as well …. Ooh I shall wait a little longer before I say too much .. till I have said product in my hand. Blessings, blessings pouring forth.
I'm looking at buying a Tascam DP-400 … (a mini portastudio) .. not too expensive but hemm not sure how easy this will be to use …I shall go to the shop on Monday and hopefully they can give me a demonstration - I’m not too clever with gadgets but it’s something I need to do. Ooh and still planning to get a video sorted and some live gigs going on.
Had a dipsy morning today when in my haste and madness in trying to do two things at once, well talk on the phone and make a delicious, nutritious smoothie with my wonderful Vitamix blender at the same time!! Not to be tried!! I ended up dropping the Vitamix on the floor along with all the content .. yes blueberry and acai berry smoothie all over my Ugg boots :-( .. Not a pretty sight and oooh what a mess to clean up :-) ... that'll teach me for trying to focus on more than one thing at a time!!!
Still waiting for the sunshine and spring to hit London .... in the meantime sending out love n peace to every living soul :-)
Monday 22 February 2010
Where does the time go does anyone know :-) But I haven't been lazing around more like buzzing around and I have two wonderful new remixes of 'Under My Skin'; one by Witty boy which someone has put up on Youtube already ... if you type in Nyilah Under My Skin it pops right up and some kind soul has also put a piccie of me and somehow given me some kind of psychedelic colouring ... :-) And the Naughty Raver remix which I just love as well and isn't yet on Youtube but am working on it and of course getting them up on my website ... sooner than soon prayfully :-) and by God's wonderful grace they are getting played on radio and French radio too France FMR!!! I just had an interview with DJ Anthony G of Spincity on Unique Radio which I believe is being aired either this Wednesday 24 February between 4pm and 6pm or Wednesday 2nd March between 4pm and 6pm. Either way they will be playing the track this week and I am so grateful for the support! I also have an interview coming up with DJ Natch on Ipswich radio on 6 March .. that'll be live and on 22 April will be heading to Nottingham for an interview with DJ Naughty Raver :-) ... OOh and the Naughty Raver remix is on a compilation along with the likes of Black Eyed Peas and Jamie Foxx and Amerie ... ho hum ... good company ... Compilation by CD Pool. Gosh blessings blessings blessings pouring forth and I am soo grateful to AudioMusicStar for these wonderful oportunities :-) ...
I just watched the film 'Yes Man' with Jim Carrey the other night about a man who has to say yes to everything he gets asked .. it was funny and interesting because you saw what good things happened in his life when he said yes more than he said no ... can start a whole wonderful chain of events and possibilities that otherwise would have been missed ... but sometimes its hard to know what is the best decision which is when you have to kick in your intuition which strengthens in truth through meditation .. heemm must go and meditate now.
Have to focus on getting a video sorted ... this is on my list of things to do this week ... focus focus focus ... in the meantime I have an incy wincy problem of a car with a stereo that isn't working and this is quite a problem when you are a musician/vocalist ... may be some wondrously magical angels will bring forth to me a new car with an amazing stereo in it that works yeah :-) Off to meditate and then dream the (prayfully!) sweetest of dreams :-) ... Au revoirxx
Monday 4 January 2010!!!
Hurray a new year ... thank you God :-)
I spent New years eve down in East Sussex with friends ... playing guitar ... singing songs ... telling stories ... laughing ... and ooh and we were looking forward to seeing the planet Saturn and its 3 rings which was meant to be visible in the sky on new years eve at 3am ... we waited and waited with my friends huge telescope at the ready but alas the clouds filled the sky and no Saturn to be seen!!
I'm soo excited about this coming year! Firstly, I have a bassline and funky house remix of 'Under My Skin' coming out beg of Feb that I'm soo excited about - will be going to radio and clubs. My creative juices are flowing and songs are pouring forth to me from the ether ... I must get them down before they dissolve back whence they came from !
One of my resolutions for this 2010 is to take lessons on the piano ... I have a beautiful old piano that I can play enough to write songs on but I want to really master it! I acquired the piano some years ago when a pub was going to throw it out - throw it my way I said and they did !! It has a very distinctive sound which is partly from the beer that has been spilled on the strings!! Still a lovely sound :-)
Watched a most poignant documentary on Elvis Presley a few nights ago ... "Elvis Presley by the Presleys". They spoke of the spiritual side of his life that not many people know about .. all the spiritual books he had read and the fact that he often frequented Lake Shrine, in California ... a most beautiful pilgrimage place of SRF that is truly magical and inspirational that I too have been blessed to visit also. A strange truth is that it was through reading a book about Elvis entitled "If I Can Dream" that I began a spiritual journey myself that led me to SRF and meditation! There are so many incredible wonders in this world and beyond that somehow someway we are all entwined I guess only when we move beyond this Universe will we then see the true bigger picture of us all. I have some great lyrics on this that I have not yet put into song but I think it is something I must work on this year as they continually pop into my head.
French ... going to learn French too I think ... would be cool to sing a song in another language ... so much to do and the clock is tick tick ticking :-)
Monday 24 November 2009
Wow I had planned to write in the diary a couple times of week!! Now I see before me that 6 weeks have passed!! Well they say time flies when you're having fun :-) ... but also to coin another phrase 'there's no rest for the blessed' :-) Life is indeed a challenge to overcome and time is for sure one of those challenges! In the 6 weeks I've recorded a new song which I love and am working on releasing it out to the Universe very soon ... listen out :-) Am also rehearsing for some live performances but dates not confirmed yet so will keep under my hat for the minute :-) Went on a music course with Sledge Media which was indeed enlightening, inspiring and motivating!! Read a lovely little book entitled 'The Giving Tree' . Ooh was in Covent Garden the other day for brunch with a friend, a joy to catch up and deelicious food at Christophers. I also came across this large glass built room which had a sign above it saying 'Come and Drum' and WOW the sound was truly AMAZING and UpLifting ... just a room full of people drumming and it really did lift you up and make you want to dance for joy - the power of music is awesome :-) Am ever thankful and ever grateful for the wondrous opportunities that present themselves to me and on that note I must sign out but not for too long :-)
Monday 12 October 2009
"You got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream how you gonna have a dream come true" - Happy Talk from South Pacific - Woke up this morning singing this in my head and then lo and behold I opened a book randomly this morning and there it was written in quotations!!! Curiouser and curiouser as Alice would say :-)
Well after a blissful, creative and spiritual weekend "offline" :-) Saturday was spent creatively finger painting with little angel soul n so much fun :-) Completing new song ... though still playing around with the lyrics - so for inspiration I re-read an interview with the great composer Brahms who talks of how he tunes in with the Infinite when he is composing .. its from a book entitled (funnily enough!!) Talks with Great Composers!
And Sunday was a day of worship and praise and strengthening my faith "If Ye Have Faith, Nothing Shall Be Impossible Unto You".
This week I must focus on the video and am still undecided as to an EPK or to work on video for song - I have to make this a priority as well as recording the new song.
Hemm after 2 hours of trying to figure out how, I have come to the realisation that my lovely Sony Vaio does not allow me to download DVDs :-( (one of my performances in Hollywood) well I guess nothing is perfect in this world though it does seem a simple task for it to undertake!!
Friday 9 October 2009
Morning World :-)
Had an inspiring dream last night .. but only remember snippets of it! I know Madonna was in it and there was a guitar and I remember I had written this song with only 4 chords and of course can only remember one of the chords F! Still its something to work on as I remember the feel of it and feeling is good!
Started the day with meditation and for some reason watched this DVD called 'Cracking the Millionaire Code' - I've had it a while but never watched it ... a very similar to message to alot of books I've read recently ... "giving is getting and the art of tithing".
Logged on to the outside world and I see in the Yahoo news that NASA is going to bomb the moon!! Well thats one of the craziest things I've heard in a long time. I had to twitter my thought on this straight away!! That man is not content with continuously attempting to destroy Mother Earth that it now wants to go and mess up the Moon!! Every action has a reaction and though we may not know what that is immediately the law of karma I'm sure will have something to say about this.
Focus for the day is on completing my song that I have co-written with Dolo Pacino and need to get recorded by the end of October ... Its virtually written just a few tweeks and a Middle 8. Wishing you all a bliss-filled weekend, in peace, Nyilahx '
